PETERSFIELD.—A most able and instructive lecture was delivered on Friday evening last in the National Schoolroom by the Rev. N. H. Mc Gachen, on ‟The Life-boat.” The lecture was illustrated with various diagrams and drawings, as well as some very handsome models of the Nation Life-boat Institution’s, and the Rev. Mr. Berthon’s life-boats. The subject was mastered in a very lucid manner, and was judiciously interspersed with some thrilling anecdotes of seafaring life, which gave still greater attraction to the subject. At the conclusion a well-merited vote of thanks was accorded the rev. gentleman by our excellent rector, which was duly acknowledged.
