LECTURE.—An interesting lecture on ‟Advertisements,” was delivered on Friday evening, in the National School-room, by the Rev. W. Blackley, M.A. The lecturer handled his subject in a most pleasing manner, pointing out the many useful lessons which may be gleaned from a careful examination of this important means of communication, and giving many amusing specimens of the advertisements of the present day as well as those of former times. A vote of thanks was proposed by the Rev. J. M. Sumner, and seconded by the Rev. M. A. Smelt, and carried by acclamation.
