HARTING.
LECTURE.—On Monday evening, at the Harting chapel, Mr. Fairbairn, of Petersfield delivered a very interesting lecture on ‟Australia and Australian Life.” The lecture was illustrated by large coloured diagrams. About 120 persons were in attendance, and, if we may judge by their quietness and attention during the lecture, all appeared highly pleased and interested. A vote of thanks was given to Mr. Fairbairn for his kindness in coming from Petersfield to deliver the lecture. The national anthem was sung, and the company separated. We were pleased to hear from the Rev. John McKean, the pastor of the Independent Church of Harting, that there will shortly be another lecture, and that these lectures will be continued through the winter months, for the amusement and instruction of the people of Harting.
