THE FORMATION OF LINE FROM OPEN COLUMN.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE VOLUNTEER SERVICE GAZETTE.
Sir,—I would suggest the following method of forming line from open column, say, right in front, on the leading division: Remaining companies, on the move, sections, left wheel; and when in a diagonal echelon of sections, forward, commanders changing to the right of the company, coverer placing himself on the left, in readiness to move out and mark the left of his company; when within two paces of the company of formation, commander of company commands, ‟Sections, right wheel, halt, dress-up.”—Yours, &c.,
