On Thursday, at Petersfield, by the Rev. M. A. Smelt, assisted by the Rev. E. Sturgis, Thomas Field, M.A., third son of the late John Field, Esq., of Upper Marsh, Lambeth, to Mary, fifth daughter of James Whicher, Esq., of Petersfield.

MARRIAGE OF THE REV. T. FIELD.—Thursday, being the day fixed for the marriage of the Rev. T. Field to Miss Mary Whicher, was looked forward to with much interest by all classes, and as the appointed hour approached a large number of persons assembled at the parish church, where the bridal party arrived about eleven o’clock. It included Mr. and Mrs, Whicher, Dr. and Mrs James Whicher, Miss M. A. Whicher, Miss Cookson, Mrs. Shebbeare, Mr. and Mrs Perry, Dr. and Mrs. Peskett, Miss Blanche and Miss Laura Peskett and Master Arthur Peskett, Mr. Wilfred King, Mr. Walter Field, Mr. and Mrs. Cross, &c. &c. &c The marriage service was read by the Rev. M. A. Smelt, assisted by the Rev. E. Sturgis, on its conclusion the ‟Wedding March” was played on the organ by Mr. Finley, and as the bride and bridegroom passed down the centre aisle of the church their path was strewed with flowers by the school children, who were arranged on each side in lines reaching from the pulpit to the porch. The newly wedded pair left the house of the bride’s father at two o’clock on their wedding trip, they sail in the course of next month for Australia, where Mr. Field has an appointment, and they will, we are sure, carry with them the best wishes of all.

On the 15th inst., at Petersfield Church, by the Rev. M. A. Smelt, M.A., the Rev. Thomas Field, M.A., late curate of Petersfield, now of Petworth, to Miss Mary Whicher, youngest daughter of James Whicher, Esq., of the High-street.
Ancestry shows the marriage on 15-May-1862
