HASLEMERE

     BIBLE SOCIETY.—The annual meeting of the auxiliary to the British and Foreign Bible Society was held at the Town-hall, on Tuesday, the 2nd of December, H. Appleton, Esq. in the chair. The report was read by J. Simmons, Esq., from which it appeared that the free contributions to the society were £12 14s. 11¼d., collection at meeting £2 10s. 2d. The number of Bibles sold during the year, 40. The first resolution was moved by the Rev. Mr. Williams of Petersfield and seconded by the Rev. E. Bromfield. The second resolution was proposed by the Rev. P. Kent, the deputation from the Parent Society, and seconded by Mr. Small, of Petersfield. The feeling pervading the meeting was that of desire to further the interests of so noble and unsectarian an institution.
