PETERSFIELD.
A neat mural tablet, bearing the following inscription, has recently been erected in the chancel of our church to the memory of the late Captain Hylton Jolliffe, whose death in the Crimea we noticed at the time:—
| ‟In memory of Captain Hylton Jolliffe, of the Coldstream Regiment of Guards, eldest son of Sir William G. H. and Eleanor Jolliffe, supported by firm faith in Christ. He closed a short and not inglorious career in the service of his Queen and Country at the Siege of Sebastopol, on the 4th of October, 1854, in the 29th year of his age.” |
