PETERSFIELD, Wednesday, May 5.
MILITARY MOVEMENTS. — On Tuesday a detachment of the 35th Regiment, under Major Bloomfield, Captain Tedlie, and Lieutenants Spooner and Dillon, with upwards of 100 men, marched in from Portsmouth, en route for Aldershott, and were billetted for the night. On Thursday a second detachment, under the command of Major Tisdale, Captains Vandeleur, Brown, and Triman, Lieutenants Carey and Addison, and Ensigns Courtney and Palmer, and about 130 men, also marched in, and were billetted for the night. On Friday the headquarters of the regiment, under the command of Colonel Atkinson, Captains Blythe and Grattan, Lieutenant Tolson, Ensigns Cooper and Chapman, and about 230 non-commissioned officers and men, in medical charge of Assistant-Surgeon Alcock, marched into the Square, enlivened by the splendid music of the band, and were also billetted for the night. At 6 o'clock the fine band of the regiment was, by the especial request of many of the inhabitants, kindly allowed to play in the Square from 6 to a quarter-past 7. It is almost needless to say that the music was of a first-class military character, and was fully appreciated and enjoyed.
