PETERSFIELD.]—NATIONAL SCHOOL TREAT.—On Thursday last the children belonging to the Petersfield National Schools were regaled with a plentiful supply of cake and tea in the school-rooms previous to their vacation. A sermon was preached in the afternoon at the church, after which the children returned, waking in procession through the principal streets, to the school-room ground, carrying a Iarge number of small banners, which had a very imposing effect.

SCHOOL FEAST.—The annual treat to the children attending the National, Infant, and Sunday Schools was given on Thursday last. The parents were also invited to partake of tea, &c., which was beautifully supplied to them in the girls’ school room. The visitors’ tea was laid in the infant school. Both rooms were prettily decorated, the latter by Mr. Jennings. The children assembled at the schools at two o’clock, and marched thence to the church, where a most admirable sermon was preached to them by the Rev. G. H. Sumner, rector of Old Alresford. On the conclusion of the service the children proceeded to the lawn, where they partook of tea and plum cake, in almost fabulous quantity, and then adjourned to a meadow adjoining the Grange, where they engaged in various games, racing, &c., until evening closed in, when after several rounds of hearty cheers for one and another of their kind entertainers, they departed for their several homes greatly delighted, and each one supplied with a huge slice of plum cake.
