PETERSFIELD.
THE NEW BOARD OF GUARDIANS met for the first time at the Board-room, at the Union Workhouse, on Thursday, when the following gentlemen were present:— Buriton, Mr. Edward Shenton; Eastmeon, Mr. John Christmas and Mr. James Lock; Froxfield, Mr. William A. Thorp; Greatham, Mr. Edward Chalcraft (Chairman); Liss, Mr. William Ayling; Petersfield, Mr. Robert S. Cross, Mr. Richard G. P. Minty, and Mr. John Lucas; Priorsdean, Mr. Stephen Mundy; Privett, Mr. John Pratt; Steep, Mr. Charles Chase; Sheet, Mr. Henry Elkington; Hawkley, Mr. George E. Coryton; and Empshott, Mr. William E. Butler. Four gentlemen having been nominated for Petersfield, an election took place, resulting as follows ; —Mr. R. S. Cross, 60; Mr. R. P. Minty, 45; Mr. J, Lucas, 40, and Mr. J. Underdown, 29; consequently the three first were elected.
