PETERSFIELD.
CRICKET CLUB.—The opening match of the season was played on the Heath on Monday last between the Secretary’s eleven and Mr. Stephen’s eighteen. The eleven went in first and scored 106. The eighteen followed, and notwithstanding some very good batting, the excellent bowling and fielding of the eleven disposed of the whole of their wickets for 40 runs. The eighteen then went in again for the remaining 66, of which they scored 54, thus leaving the eleven victorious by one innings with 12 runs to spare. This result clearly shows the healthy and improving condition of the club, and gives promise of laurels to be gathered in the ensuing season.
