… It is rumoured that the contractor of the Petersfield and Midhurst line has to take up the rails and put down additional sleepers, as the Government Inspector compels that the order that additional ‟chairs” be used—a determination, we believe, arrived at in consequence of the Streatham accident—shall be here adopted. We are not, however, officially informed of this fact; but such is the rumour.
