The annual distribution of clothing to the members of the Petersfield and Sheet Clothing Club, took place at the Town Hall, on Friday last. There were 296 recipients. This club was established some years ago by the Rev. F. M. Cunningham, and is conducted on the sound and wholesome principal of helping those who will help themselves; each member pays in weekly some small sum (1d. to 2d.) and at the end of the year the amount so deposited is increased to half as much again from a fund raised for the purpose by voluntary subscription, and the poor thus obtain on very easy terms, and most opportunely in the depth of winter, a supply of useful clothing.
