PETERSFIELD AMATEUR DRAMATIC ROOM ENTERTAINMENT.—It is pleasing to note that our theatrical season will commence on Wednesday, January the 3rd, at the Dolphin Assembly-room, under highly distinguished patronage, when Foote's old English comedy, entitled "the Liar," as lately introduced at the Royal Olympic Theatre, preceded by the Vaudeville, "The Swiss Cottage; or, Why won't she Marry?" and the performance will conclude with the laughable farce of "The Bengal Tiger," and will be repeated on Friday, Jan. 10th. The committee have announced that a special performance will be given in February, in aid of the Southampton Fund, now being raised for the relief of the survivors of those who perished by the late hurricane in the West Indies. A new programme will be arranged for the occasion. From the well established reputation of our clever amateur company, we may well auger favourable for their full success for the present—from the good fortune which attended their previous seasonable efforts to charitable purposes. The proceeds for the present will be devoted to the public charity schools of Petersfield.
