PETERSFIELD.
CHRISTMAS STOCK MARKET.—This market was held on Wednesday the 7th instead of., but was not so largely supplied as usual and it was generally admitted that the quality was scarcely equal to what we have seen, nevertheless there were some very first rate beasts exhibited, including Mr. John Ring’s 14 Herefords (which were all purchased by the Messrs. Frankland of Titchfield and Wickham). Mr. Seward’s 26 Devons, Mr. H. Boy’s lot of 10 Herefords, 10 Herefords exhibited by Mr. W. Chase, (Weston), and Mr. Chase’s (Bowyers), Devons. Some very good Devons and Herefords were also shown by Mr. Goodeve (Mursted). The following also showed some useful beasts, Mr. W. Boys (Old Ditcham), Mr. Warner (Hawkley), Mr. H. Chase (Harting). Trade was vey dull during the early part of the day, the prices asked being very high and for a considerable time scarcely any beasts had changed hands, but eventually a good number were sold.
