PETERSFIELD.]—COUNTY COURT—At the Petersfield County Court, held at the Town Hall, on Saturday last, no case of particular interest occurred.

  • Hawker v. Amey.—This was an adjourned case from the previous court, held on Saturday, January the 23rd. The defendant was sued for £50, for leaving Roke Farm, in the parish of Steep, in a dilapidated state, by the Rev. W. Hawker, of Horndean, the proprietor of the farm. Verdict of the plaintiff.
  • Application.—Application was also made by Mr. White, solicitor, of Guildford, for the release of Mr. J. Warren, of Buriton, adjudicated a bankrupt in April of the past year, trading as a coal merchant. This case stands over for the next court day, which will be held in May, in consequence of the court’s rising previous to the application being made for the bankrupt’s release.

PETERSFIELD

     COUNTY COURT.—Saturday.—Rev. W. Hawker, v. Thomas Amey.—This was a case in which the plaintiff claimed £5O damages from defendant, for not cultivating in a good and husbandlike manner, a certain farm called Roke, situate in the parish of Steep, belonging to plaintiff. The case was referred to arbitration, and Mr. Edward Wyatt, of Chichester, was chosen arbitrator. The award of the arbitrator was now presented to the judge, who confirmed the same, the damages being £l9 10s. Plaintiff’s attorney attended and applied for all costs incurred, which were allowed. Defendant’s attorney did not appear.
