PETERSFIELD

FIRE ENGINES.—The Committee appointed at a public meeting some time since, to take charge of the engines, have organised a fire brigade, consisting of an engineer and 18 able bodied men; they have also added new hose, buckets, and other requisites, and on Friday last, the engines were taken out and tested, when they were all found to work in a perfectly satisfactory manner, and we may now congratulate the town and neighbourhood that in case of a fire occurring, the means are at hand (as far as human appliances can be available), for meeting the catastrophe promptly and efficiently.
