PETERSFIELD. —The annual meeting of the Horticultural Society was held on Wednesday, the 4th inst. when the report of the committee was read, from which it appeared that the efforts made last year to establish this useful institution had been completely successful, and that the kindness of those who sent plants, flowers, fruit, or vegetables for exhibition, though not for competition, was fully appreciated. The vegetables contributed by the cottagers, whose benefit the society has been chiefly formed, were also superior to what had been anticipated, and the committee have reason to believe that a considerable addition will be made to this class in the ensuing year. For resolutions see advertisement.
