PETERSFIELD.

NATIONAL SCHOOLS—On Thursday last the Queen’s Inspector, the Rev. W. Warburton, examined the pupil teachers in connection with this establishment, together with those of the neighbourhood, amounting in all to nineteen, nine of whom belonged to the Petersfield National Schools. The examination was almost entirely written, and lasted for about four hours and a half. It embraced school management, religious knowledge, arithmetic, geography, history, drawing, &c. The rev. gentlemen seemed much pleased with the progress of all, and expressed the greatest satisfaction with the drawing of those in connection with the Petersfield schools. At his late inspection of the schools he pronounced them ‟second to none in England.” After the examination this interesting class of young persons was entertained to lunch by our kind rector, after which they joined in several games, and spent a very happy evening together.
