PETERSFIELD.]—THE NATIONAL SCHOOLS.—The Government Inspector of Schools has, during the early part of the past week, been in attendance at the Petersfield National Schools, inspecting the children and pupil teachers connected with that school, whose examination has proved very satisfactory. The vacation of the children has commenced. Prizes were recently awarded to those in attendance at the evening adult schools, held during the winter season, by the Hants and Wilts Educational Society, when two young men, pupils of the Petersfield British School, names Henry Mills and Benjamin Barnet, received each a book and a certificate of the third degree. Barnet, we hear, was a candidate for the office of pupil teacher, under Mr. Fairbairn, the tutor in 1854, but was not successful.
