PETERSFIELD.
PETTY SESSIONS.—TUESDAY.—Before the Hon. J. J. Carnegie (Chairman), John Waddington and George Forbes, Esqrs.
The only business before the Bench was a charge against some children of stealing apples from a tree in the garden belonging to J. B. Carter, Esq., M.P., in the parish of Buriton. P.C. William Adams laid the information, and the case being proved, Superintendent Fey stated to the magistrates that Mr. Carter had no wish to punish the children, but as the practice continued from year to year, it was necessary to show the parents of the children, who were present, that these petty thefts were not to be committed with impunity. Ordered to pay 4s. 3d. each, which included damage, fine, and costs. Paid.
