This was the only business of the day, and it is worthy of remark that there has scarcely been a case of larceny before the bench for several months past, this fact indicates an improved state of things in the neighbourhood, and reflects great credit on our worthy Superintendent of Police, Mr. Thomas Fey, and also on the men employed under him. Mr. Fey, has been stationed here now for many years, and is thoroughly acquainted with the locality and its inhabitants, and the manner in which he carries out the duties of his office has gained for him the goodwill of all classes. He is always on the alert for the detection of malpractices and unswerving in the prosecution of his duties, whilst at the same time he judiciously avoids that needless meddling which tends to bring the police into bad odour.
