PETERSFIELD.
PETTY SESSIONS.—TUESDAY.—Present: The Hon. J. J. Carnegie (chairman), J. Waddington, Esq., and Major Briggs.
— AFFILIATION CASE.— George Lintott, a blacksmith, was charged by Ellen Porter (both of Eastmeon), with being the putative father of her illegitimate child, born on the 13th of April last. He pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay the sum of 1s. 6d. per week.
It was truly pleasing to witness the re-appearance at the Bench of the Hon. J. J. Carnegie, after an absence of several months, the last time he sat being on the 27th of October last. On the following day the hon. gentleman was pheasant shooting at Ditcham with some friends when unfortunately, a stray shot penetrated his left eye, which, we are sorry to say, has nearly deprived him of sight. Nevertheless, it is gratifying to find that the public are again in possession his valuable services.
