The only business before the bench consisted of appeals against several poor rates as lately fixed by the Assessment Committee.
— Mr. Field, of Gosport, appeared for several of the appellants, others were represented by Mr. Adams, of Petersfield. The whole of the cases were undefended. The following reductions were made: Mr. Richard Hall, Steep, from £6 13s. to £4 5s.; Mr. William Thorp, Froxfield, from £18 18s. to £13 12s.; Mr. Payne, Bordean, from £19 19s. to £11 8s. 6d; Mr. Bridgeman, Bordean, from £108 to £87; Mrs. Scard, Froxfield, from £42 to £32 10s.; Mr. Dean, Buriton, from 27s. per acre to. 19s. 6d.; Mr. Waller, Steep, from 32s. per acre to 25s; Mr. Aldred, Steep, from £12 to £10 10s; Mr. John Etherington, Froxfield, from £237 to £200; the same on 29 acres, from 22s. per acre to 17s.
