PETERSFIELD.

     PETTY SESSIONS, Dec. 29th.—Present : The Right Hon. J. J. Carnegie, Sir J. C. Jervoise, J. Marteneau, R. Steel, and J. H. Waddington, Esqrs. 

     An information was read against William Clark, of Priorsdean, on the oath of George Dutton, a game-keeper to Sir D. Tidgebourne, for setting wires for the purpose of catching hares, in a row called Cockshet, in the occupation of Mr. G. Smith. The defendant did not appear, and having been previously convicted, was fined £2 and 7s. 6d. costs.

     Thomas Smith, of Barn Green, was charged by Louisa Parr with being the father of her bastard child. Ordered to pay 1s 6d. per week. 

     DAMAGING TREES.—James Lintott and Samuel Linary appeared to a summons, charged by P.C. 249, James Edson, stationed at Liss, for unlawfully and maliciously damaging several oak trees, the property of Sir Charles Taylor, Bart. Fined 10s. 6d. including costs. 

     TRESPASS.—George Hetheridge appeared to a summons charged by Charles Wittington with being, in the day time, in a certain piece of land in the parish of Catherington, trespassing in search of game. The case being proved, he was fined 10s. and 7s 6d. costs. In this case Sir J. C. Jervoise withdrew from the Bench, as the offence was committed on his estate. 

     STEALING CARROTS.—A railway laborer was charged by Superintendent T. Fey with stealing carrots from Mr. W. Chalcraft, of Liphook. Fined 10s. including costs.
