PETERSFIELD UNION.
MASTER and MATRON WANTED.

     THE Guardians of this Union will, at their Meeting to be held at the Board Room, in the Union Workhouse, on Thursday the 26th day of November instant, be ready to receive Applications for a MASTER and MATRON of the Petersfield Union Workhouse.

     The Candidates must be Man and Wife, of good health, and unquestionable character.

     The Master must write a good hand, be a good accountant, and fully competent to keep all the books and accounts required to be kept by the Poor Law Board, and to arrange and superintend the proper employment of the Paupers in the House. The Matron must understand the usual routine of housekeeping, plain cooking, making up clothes, &c. 

     The salaries will be for the Master £30, and the Matron £20 per annum, with establishment rations. 

A personal or other canvas of the Guardians will be deemed a disqualification.

     Applications in the Candidates own hand writing, stating their own ages (and, if a family, the number and ages of their children), previous occupation in life, accompanied with satisfactory testimonials as to character and ability, must be sent (if by post, prepaid), directed ‟To the Chairman of the Board of Guardians, Union House, Petersfield, Hants.” indorsed ‟Application for Master and Matron,” on or before Thursday the 26th instant, by ten o'clock in the forenoon.

     The Candidates who may be selected for personal interview will afterwards be written to by the Clerk to give their attendance (at their own expanse) at a Meeting, to be held on the 10th day of December next, when the appointments will be made.

     The person elected will be required to enter into a bond, with two sureties in the sum of £200 for the faithful discharge of the duties, and which are to be entered upon as soon as the appointments are sanctioned by the Poor Law Board.

     A strict compliance with the terms of this advertisement is absolutely necessary, or the applications will not be attended to.—By order of the Board,
