PETERSFIELD UNION.
COLLECTOR OF POOR RATES.

     THE Guardians of this Union will, at their Meeting, to be held on Thursday, the 17th day of August, 1854, at the Board Room, in the Union Workhouse, proceed to ELECT A COLLECTOR OF POOR RATES for District No. 2 of the said Union, comprising the several parishes of Buriton, Greatham, Liss, Petersfield, Steep, Sheet, Hawkley, and Empshott, containing a population of 4,981, and an area of 18,584 acres. 

     The Salary will be Thirty Five Pounds per Annum, payable Quarterly, and the duties to commence from the 29th day of September next.

     The person elected must be a good Accountant, and enter into a bond, with two approved Sureties, for the due performance of the duties of the office, in the penal sum of 400l.

     Applications to be made in the parties’ own hand-writing, stating the names and addresses of his proposed sureties, his age and previous occupation, and whether single or married, with particulars of family, and forwarded to me, with written testimonials, before the 16th day of August, 1854, endorsed ‟Application for Collector of Poor Rates.”

     Personal attendance will not be required on the day of election. The party elected will have due notice thereof, and be required to attend at the Board Room aforesaid on the 31st day of August, 1854.
