PETERSFIELD.
CRICKET.—The cricket club opened their summer campaign at Petersfield on Monday last with a match with the Harting Club. The Petersfield Club came off victors in one innings with 21 runs to spare.

PETERSFIELD CLUB v. HARTING CLUB.—The first match of the season was played on the Petersfield ground on Monday last, when the Petersfield club gained the day, and we trust it may prove a good omen of their success during the season. The following is the score:—

(as above) … From the above score it will be seen that our friends ‟over the border” got a thorough good ‟licking,‟ yet not with any degree of discredit, as may at first appear, when it is borne in mind that this was their maiden match, played since the establishment of the club in the last autumn. We may congratulate the members upon having all the personal requisites, &c., for making good crickesters, and have no doubt that with practical experience and well working up together, that on the next year’s opening their position upon the score will be far in advance of the present.
