PORTSMOUTH DIRECT RAILWAY.—On Thursday evening, an accident occurred at the Liss station, in consequence of the inattention of the official in charge of the points, which caused the luggage train due at that station about 7.13 p.m. to run off the line, ploughing up the metals, &c., for several yards, happily without doing any injury, to life or limb. The energetic station-master, Mr. Way, immediately got his staff of men together and repaired the injury done in a short space of time, the only delay being about half-an-hour to the last down train. The official was immediately suspended, since which he has made his escape.
