EXTRAORDINARY FREAK OF NATURE. — We have seen in the possession of an inhabitant of the Sheep Street, a rabbit's head, which exhibits one of those rare and novel freaks of nature, that cannot but prove highly interesting to naturalists. The rabbit in question, was lately shot upon the Buriton Estate, and must be seen to be fully appreciated; and which must from appearances have reached a good age, not only from the colour, but from the peculiarity and length of the teeth—the strange formation of which is truly astonishing, as the following brief description will show. The under teeth, instead of the natural incisors, has more the appearance of tusks, than teeth, being in length only one eighth short of two Inches, pointing forward, in line with the lower jaw, of rounded shape, and curving up considerably to their ends. The upper teeth are more strange still, turning inward above the lower jaw, and below the roof of the mouth, forming complete rings of five eighths of an inch in diameter. It may also be noted that the rings prevented the mouth closing for the space named, from shutting down upon the lower teeth at their projection from the jaw; and the greatest wonder is how the little animal could possibly have gathered sufficient sustenance for its subsistence, from the strange malformation we have shortly attempted to describe; but it appears from the twisted position of the nose to the right, and the flattened side of the mouth, &c., that food must have been gathered on that side. The size and weight of the body was above the average.
