PETERSFIELD.]—RAILWAY ACCIDENT.—On Wednesday evening last the luggage train, due at the Petersfield Station at 6.45, was partly thrown off the rails near the Buriton Tunnel, in consequence of the uncoupling of the carriages or trucks. This caused a temporary delay to the usual trains, but, by the unceasing exertions of Mr. Mandy, the manager, &c., at the Petersfield Station, in a very short time the line was thoroughly cleared, without an accident, saving the breaking of a truck wheel or two, and a chain. The traffic was resumed, as usual, on Thursday morning. It is, we hear, in contemplation shortly to make this now single into a double line of rail, in consequence of the daily-increasing traffic.
