Portsmouth—here all is safe for the reforming interest. Mr Carter and Mr F Baring will be returned without opposition. Petersfield.—this election was expected (Colonel and Sir William Jolliffe, the anti-reformers, being so successful in obtaining government jobs) to pass off without opposition: but those gentlemen were opposed by John Ogle and Mr Marsh, for whom there was an overwhelming majority on the show of hands. The poll was demanded.
