CHRISTMAS STOCK MARKET.—This market was held on Wednesday last. The supply was not so good as it has been in former years, several of the principal graziers having sold their choicest beasts at home. There were, however, a good many very superior animals brought in, some of the best of which belonged to Mr. H. Boys, Mr. W. Chase (Weston), Mr. W. Goodeve, and Mr. S. W. Seward. The latter gentleman introduced a new feature in the market by placing 15 of his best beasts under the auctioneer's hammer. Mr. G. Etherington officiated, and the prices ranged from 28l. to 40l., averaging about 33l. each. Mr. Goodeve's lot of 40 Devons attracted great attention, most of them being of first-rate quality. The demand was not brisk in the early part of the day, but ultimately the greater part were sold, and at good prices.

PETERSFIELD.—At our annual Christmas market the supply was below the average and the quality good, but the sale was dull. The best beasts, numbering 15, were exhibited by Mr. S. W. Seward, of Weston, and sold by auction. The best bullock fetched 40l. and the others in proportion. Best quality beasts realized 5s. 6d. per stone.
