PETERSFIELD.

RIFLE MATCH.—A return match between the 13th Surrey (1st Guildford) and the 12th Hants (Petersfield) came off Piccard’s Range on the 16th instant. The weather was most unfortunate, the wind being high, and the rain coming down the most of the day in torrents. In consequence the shooting of neither party was so good as usual, but the 12th Hants won the match by some 20 points. Had the day been fine there would, doubtless, have been a number of visitors to the spot—for, besides the return match, three brothers of the name of Caplen (crack shots) were pitted against the three Brothers Drewett, who have distinguished themselves several times in the shooting at Wimbledon. The Brothers Caplen won by nine points.
