PETERSFIELD.—The Rev. John Moreland, was recognised as pastor of the Independent Church, Petersfield, Hants, on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 1843, when the Rev. J. Howell, of Alton, commenced by reading the Scriptures and prayer; the Rev. S. Ransom, classical and Hebrew tutor in the Theological Academy, Hackney, delivered an introductory discourse; the Rev. W. Scamp, of Havant, offered the recognition prayer; and the Rev. T. Guyer, of Ryde, preached to the people. The Rev. Messrs. Slatterie, of Rowland Castle; Evans, of Emsworth; Morgan, of Harting; and Edwin, of Midhurst, engaged in the other parts of the service.
