DISTRICT INTELLIGENCE.

ALTON.]—SERIOUS ACCIDENT.—On Wednesday, as Mrs. Strange, the wife of Mr. Strange, the purveyor at the Crystal Palace. and her two sisters, Mrs. W. Trimming and Miss Allen, were driving from Alton to Petersfield, the pony ran away. Mrs. Strange and Mrs. Trimming jumped from the vehicle, the former alighting safely, but the latter alighted on her head, and suffered very serious injury. The turnpike gate at the ‟Trooper” public-house brought the vehicle to a standstill, and Miss Allen was thrown violently out of it, but escaped with some severe bruises about the face. Mrs. Trimming was taken into the Trooper, and medical aid sent for. Drs. Leslie and Burnett, of Alton, were soon in attendance, who found that Mrs. Trimming had sustained a severe concussion of the brain. Up to Thursday evening Mrs. Trimming was too ill to be removed to her own home.
