PETERSFIELD.

SINGULAR DEATH OF A MARE.—On Saturday last a mare belonging to Mr. Gale, of Froxfield, died under circumstances which induced the owner to procure a post mortem examination, when the small intestines were found to be completely obstructed by hard substances resembling stones, one of them weighing 2lb., three others 1¾lb. each, and there were nearly 100 others of sizes varying from that of a small apple to that of a marble. This extraordinary condition is said to have been induced by almost exclusive feeding on pollard for a considerable time.
