SIR WILLIAM GEORGE HYLTON JOLLIFFE, Bart. (Secretary to the Treasury).—Sir William is the son of the Rev. William Jolliffe, by the daughter and co-heir of Sir A. Pytches, of Streatham, Surrey. He was born in Little Argyle-street in 1800; and he married in 1825 a daughter of the Hon. B. Paget. He was Under Secretary of State for the Home Department from March till December, 1852. He is a Deputy-Lieutenant of Surrey. He sat for Petersfield in 1830 and 1831; unsuccessfully contested it in 1832 and 1835; again returned in 1857.
