‟SLAP BANG!”—THE WIND VERSUS THE CAB—A cab standing in its usual place on the pitchem, at the back of the Dolphin Hotel, on Monday afternoon last, was set in motion by a sudden gust of wind, and proceeded backwards along the decline of the same with considerable speed across the turnpike road, unmusically resting its whole ‟slap bang” against the wall abreast of the drawing-room window of R. S. Cross, Esq., with great force. Great surprise was expressed by several persons who witnessed the novel freak of the cab minus cabby; but far more so, however, was the consternation of the inmates, at the sudden crash which aroused their instant attention, and of whom, upon proceeding to the door and enquiring if any one was hurt, at once perceived the strange and uncommon cause of dismay resting quietly in the position stated above.
