THE COUNTY REVISION.— Our Conservative friends are true to their old failing again as regards the revision for the Northern Division, and on this occasion it would seem that the Whig-Radicals are also adopting the advice of Lord Russell, viz., ‟Rest and be thankful.” Rest, no doubt, is agreeable to either party, both financially and physically. The former require it after their late victory and consequent expenditure, and the latter after their gallant but resultless conflict, and its concomitant ‟little bill.” However, to secure victory and make its possession safe, the register shonld be constantly watched and fought; and if the expense of this yearly process is too great, as no doubt it is for one or two individuals to bear, then an association should be formed to ‟raise the wind” and thoroughly follow Sir Robert Peel’s advice of ‟Register, register, register,” in the interest of the Conservative cause, which cannot afford to be treated in the apathetic style too common in its leaders. This year, for instance, the objections in the Northern Division by other than overseers amount to 17 only; why in Winchester alone more might have been made of a valid nature, whilst in the Southern Division there are but 24. We subjoin a tabular statement of the claims, deaths, and objections in each polling district of the northern portion of tbe county : —
