PETERSFIELD.]—THE ELECTION.—Since our last publication the only preparation for the forthcoming election is an address from the present member, who is the proprietor of this notorious borough; also the whipper-in to the present Conservative pack, and paramount at home. The neighbouring borough of Midhurst is, at last, aroused, the electors showing their determination to run alone. We wish them prosperity and every success in trying to relieve themselves from their trammels. A large number of the present constituency of Petersfield would willingly follow the example of our Midhurst friends, if those who have commanding influence in the borough would but preside at the helm, and hoist the flag of liberty.
