THE HAMPSHIRE CHALLENGE VASE.

This Vase, won twice by the Fareham Corps and once each by Cowes, Petersfield, and Portsmouth, was recently won by Mr. Henry Horn, of the 3rd Company of the Southampton Rifles, with the excellent score of 33 points, against last year’s winning score of 31, and 30 of the year before. It will be seen that the winner was closely pressed. There was a little wind in the morning from the right, but it died away entirely in the afternoon. Captain Grange had nearly a sinecure in the office of referee, and at the conclusion presented the Vase to the winner with a few appropriate remarks. Mr. Horn now holds the Challenge Vase for the County, the Challenge Telescope for his corps, and the Challenge Medal for his company. There were sixty-eight competitors:—
