GOULBURN, Right Hon H., University of Cambridge.—this gentleman now possesses a seat in Parliament, returned by a constituency who most strangely disgraced themselves by rejecting representatives of whom they were previously proud; but trust is neither to be placed in "parsons nor lawyers." Mr Goulburn is only known as a placeman, having filled situations for which he was never fitted. He has retired with a pension of 2,000l. a-year. He made a brother a Welsh Judge; but who, fortunately for the people, had not been so a sufficient time to be chargeable on their industry. Another brother was sent to New Holland, and placed in a high situation until recalled. Mr Bowles, who married his wife's sister, and who for his amusement went as private secretary to Mr Goulburn for a few months to Ireland, has been, with his wife, fixed on the Irish pension list, and the yearly sum of 192l 5s. 8d.
