TOLLS TO BE LET
Winchester and Petersfield Turnpike Road.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN,—That the TOLLS arising at the several Toll Gates and Bars upon this Turnpike Road, called or known by the names of the Winchester Gate, Bramdean Gate, and Beckham Lane Gate and Bars, will be LET by AUCTION, together or separately, as shall be determined on by the majority of the Trustees present, to the best bidder, at the house of William Allen, called the Fox Inn, Bramdean, on Friday the 23d day of October next, between the hours of eleven in the forenoon and two in the afternoon, viz. at one o’clock, for one year, in the manner directed by the General Turnpike Road Acts, which Tolls produced the last year £441, and will be put up at that sum.
In case the said Tolls shall not be Let by Auction, the said Trustees will be prepared, on the said 23d day of October next, to LET the same by TENDER, in pursuance of the Act of Parliament.
Whoever happens to be the best bidder must at the same time pay One Month’s Rent in advance of the Rent at which such Tolls may be let to him, and give security with sufficient sureties, to the satisfaction of the Trustees for the payment of the rest of the Rent monthly by equal instalments; and the persons proposed as sureties must either attend personally at the time of letting the Tolls, or signify in writing their consent to become such sureties, otherwise the Tolls will be put up again.
And Notice is hereby given that at the said meeting General Business relating to the Trust will be transacted.
