Extract of a letter, dated "Bath, St. Thomas in the East, 12th inst.

"All is quiet in this quarter. I came up from Green Valley police station last evening. All was quiet in that quarter of port Royal; a detachment of the police (a serjeant and six men) that had been sent to Bloxburgh plantations last Thursday, returned about midday. There are thirty effective men at Green Valley. They are exercised daily in the use of their arms and marching and the inspector (Sever) who is constantly at his post, is quite on the alert—his conduct in the care of his men insures great regularity and good discipline among them. A report prevailed that five or six estates in the Valley had a struck work—Petersfield and Morant were mentioned."
