PETERSFIELD.]—On Monday our town presented a very gay appearance, in consequence of an announcement by large placards that Mr. W. Cooke’s extensive company of equestrians, &c., would make a public entry into the town, passing in procession through the different streets. Long before eleven o’clock the whole route of road in which the procession passed was literally crammed with human beings, to the number of about 5,000 persons, the greater part of whom were from the country villages, dressed out in their holiday attire. A morning and evening performance took place in a convenient meadow at the back of Messrs. Craft's Hotel, which was well patronised on both occasions.
