PETERSFIELD.]—The wheat harvest has been brought to a close in this locality, after a very unfavourable season for all kinds of grain, a large quantity of which has been housed in a very bad condition, and very much grown out. This will prove much to the disadvantage of both the miller and the consumer. The continuation of fine weather since the appearance of the harvest moon has greatly improved the barley and oats, and a large breadth of land has been cleared in tolerable condition, and many farmers have brought their harvesting operations to a close. Hop picking has been very generally commenced during the past week. Every garden throughout this neighbourhood looks well, and promises a good yield; notwithstanding in one or two of which are isolated cases, the mildew having made its appearance, to prevent which these have been picked somewhat earlier.
