HAMPSHIRE QUARTER SESSIONS.

Business recommenced on Tuesday morning, in the Crown Court , before F. R. Thresher, Esq.. chairman. W. W. Farr. Ksq., Capt. Nevill, H. J. Mulcock, Esq.. and the Rev. J. T. Maine.

The CHAIRMAN, in his address to the Grand Jury, congratulated them that their labours would be lighter than usual, the number of prisoners amounting to no more than 40, though double that number was the average, but he could not say that crime had in any degree diminished, as thirty-two cases, which would have come before them but for the operations of a recent Act, had been summarily disposed of, whilst there were two or three other cases got rid of at the late Assizes.
