NORTH HANTS ELECTION
The contest for the representation of the northern division of Hampshire has terminated in the return of Mr. Melville Portal. In the Winchester district the contest was very severe, and several times in the course of Tuesday and yesterday the two candidates were equal on the poll. Great though unsuccessful exertions were made by the tenant-farmers to return Mr. Shaw.
