TOLLS TO LET
Winchester & Petersfield Turnpike Road.

     WHEREAS the TOLLS arising at the several Toll Gates and Bars upon this Turnpike Road, known by the names of the Winchester Gate, Bramdean Gate, and Beckham Lane Gate and Bars, were out up to be Let by Auction, to the best bidder, at the White Swan Inn, Winchester, on Friday the 30th day of November instant, in the manner directed by the General Turnpike Road Acts, which Tolls produced last year £387  14s, and were put up at that sum, but no one bid for the same.

     Now therefore Notice is hereby given,—That such TOLLS will again, in like manner, be put up to be LET by AUCTION, together or separately, to the best bidder, at the house of William Barnard, called the Fox Inn, at Bramdean, on Friday the 28th day of December next, between the hours of twelve at noon and one of the clock in the afternoon, at such sum or sums as the Trustees then and there present shall think fit.

     Whoever happens to be the best bidder, must, at the same time pay one month’s rent in advance of the rent at which such Tolls may be let, and give security, with sufficient sureties, to the satisfaction of the Trustees of the said Turnpike Road, for the payment of the rest of the money monthly.—Winchester, Nov. 30, 1855.
